POSTED ON January 25, 2023 BY Terry Levinthal

Our thoughts go out to those firefighters who were injured and to their colleagues whose stellar efforts to contain the fire were heroic.

What kind of housing policy for a fairer, greener Scotland?

POSTED ON December 21, 2022 BY James Garry

There is much to applaud in the new NPF4. For the first time, Scottish planning is putting climate and the nature crisis at the heart of the system.  It introduces community wealth building and the circular economy. However, the approach to housing still falls short.

5G Masts – where are they unacceptable?

POSTED ON December 14, 2022 BY James Garry

We believe that, in consultation with local stakeholders, any proposed 5G apparatus should be in as inconspicuous a location as possible or disaggregated into smaller, less conspicuous arrays if this is achievable.

Climate Heritage Network lauds landmark Culture Outcomes at COP27

POSTED ON November 23, 2022 BY James Garry

The accelerating impacts of climate change are causing wholesale disruption to communities, and to and the historical and social fabric that underpins resilience globally, but disproportionately in the global south. Physical and economic impacts are exacerbated by the loss of underpinning culture and heritage – both tangible and intangible.

Edinburgh’s housing crisis: an “informed”  citizen’s view

POSTED ON October 12, 2022 BY James Garry

Having spent the past 40 years working in housing throughout the country including in Edinburgh, it is clear to me that most people cannot plan for or achieve lifelong well-being while faced with uncontrolled rent rises, insecure tenancies, and house price growth which outstrips income growth.
