Edinburgh & East Lothian Doors Open Days 2026: Save the Date

One of Scotland’s great annual celebrations of buildings, places and communities returns this September, with the Cockburn Association once again coordinating Doors Open Days across Edinburgh and East Lothian.
Doors Open Days offers a chance to discover our built heritage from a different perspective, opening the doors to buildings and spaces and inviting people to explore the stories, architecture and activities that give them life.
Across Edinburgh and East Lothian, a remarkable range of participants will welcome visitors, from historic landmarks and places of worship to community buildings, cultural venues, workplaces and examples of contemporary architecture.
For more than 150 years, the Cockburn Association has worked to promote the conservation and enhancement of Edinburgh’s unique architectural and landscape heritage. Through Doors Open Days, that interest extends across Edinburgh and East Lothian, encouraging people to experience places at first hand, learn more about the buildings and landscapes around them, and consider how our built heritage can continue to serve communities today and in the future.
Whether you are interested in architecture, history, conservation and design, want to discover somewhere new, or are simply curious about what lies behind a familiar door, there will be plenty to explore.

Doors Open Days is free to attend, although some venues and activities may require advance booking.
