Prestongrange Museum is open 7 days a week from 11.30am until 4.30pm during the summer months. Due to the late opening this season we are extending our seasonal opening date until 31st October.

Booking is preferred but not essential. Please call 0131 653 2904 or email us at prestongrange@eastlothian.gov.uk

During Doors Open Day Weekend we will be hosting regular guided tours of the Museum site and have a variety of children’s crafts on offer. We also also have a lovely takeaway cafe selling hot and cold drinks, freshly filled sandwiches/wraps/rolls, Luca’s ice cream and a selection of cakes and snacks.

This exhibition, marking 275 years since the end of the last Jacobite rising, explores how the cultural legacy of the battle has long outlasted its immediate consequences. Dunbar Town House will be open to Doors Open Days visitors from 1pm to 5pm on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th September 2021.

We will be providing guided tours of the venue at selected times each afternoon. We will also have children’s activities based on the clock and sundials on the outside of the building.

Our museum will be open Sat 25th September from 10am – 5pm and Sun 26th September from 1pm – 5pm. Our temporary exhibition will be John Muir, Earth, planet, Universe, examining how John Muir’s Legacy can inform the current fight against climate change.

Take part in children’s activities exploring the world of weights and measures which John would have grown us using in his father’s grain shop.
