Viridor Dunbar Energy Recovery Facility

Viridor is pleased to invite you for a virtual tour of our energy recovery facility (ERF) at Dunbar. Dunbar ERF, one of Viridor’s 11-strong fleet of energy recovery facilities, diverts non-recyclable waste from landfill and generates it into energy and creates materials for use in construction.

Dunbar ERF processes up to 325,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste per year which would otherwise be sent to landfill. With a generating volume of 258 GWh, the facility contributes to Scottish energy security. In line with the Scottish Government’s ambitions, Viridor has announced a commitment to reach net zero carbon by 2040 and in addition to be net negative by 2045.
The facility is integral to the Scottish Government’s ambitions to deliver a zero waste, circular economy which encourages waste reduction, boost recycling and recovers energy from what remains.
