Leith Theatre is a Grade-B listed entertainment complex of significant architectural and cultural importance. The venue operated pre-pandemic as a pop-up events space for festivals and one off events while other private functions.

Since March 2020, we have managed to stay active and tell an important story. We have hosted Empty Kitchens Full Hearts in our Thomas Morton Hall. The charity serves two hot meals a day from the venue and delivers food parcels across the city. In addition, the venue has played host to artists undertaking covid-safe live music recordings and music videos. This period saw the return of The Snuts to film their music video for single ‘Always’ from their recent debut, UK no.1 album and Teenage Fan Club filming their single ‘Home’ from their most recent album.

Despite still being in need of significant refurbishment, Leith Theatre delivered its maiden in-house production in spring 2021 launching ‘Live in Leith’. This mini-series of three exclusive live music broadcasts saw the venue, through Creative Scotland funding, showcase six export-ready Scottish artists hosted by BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway.

Join us virtually this Doors Open Days for a digital tour of Leith Theatre and take in the grandness of this old dame! Leith Theatre will provide an intimate digital venue tour hosted on our website and social media channels.
