Edinburgh is now the ninth most desirable city in Europe

According to Deloitte, Edinburgh is now the ninth most desirable city in Europe and has held the title of most desirable city for UK regional hotel investment for four years running.

Edinburgh was named number one by more than half (54%) of participants in the Deloitte 2024 European Hotel Industry and Investment Survey. For the second year in a row, the Big Four firm also ranked London the most desirable city in Europe to invest in hotels.

Nearly 100 senior hospitality executives, owners, developers, lenders, and investors were surveyed by Deloitte to determine the major themes that will influence the sector in 2025. The study was conducted in 2024 between August 7 and September 17.

Edinburgh’s top spot for UK regional hotel investment for the fourth consecutive year running was followed by Oxford (25%) in second place and Manchester (22%) in third place, while Birmingham moved three places up the ranking to sit as the fifth most attractive UK city for investment in 2025.
