Climate Vulnerability Index (CVI) Assessment for the Old and New Towns of Edinburgh

POSTED ON April 21, 2023 BY James Garry

Climate change is the fastest growing threat to
World Heritage (WH)

The CVI is a methodology developed to rapidly assess climate impacts – both to Outstanding Universal Value (OUV) and the associated ‘community’ (local, domestic and international) – for all types of World Heritage properties (natural, cultural or mixed).

This report is the second in a series of CVI assessments covering World Heritage Properties in Scotland.

Overall, the report predicts that #ClimateChange is likely to have a moderate impact on the heritage of Edinburgh’s Old and New Towns.
