The New Town of Edinburgh and Other Stories
Monday 9th December 2024
Simon Laird explores the evolution of Edinburgh New Town, brainchild of Lord Provost George Drummond. Why was it built? How did it evolve during design and construction? And how has it accommodated 250 years of change? During his six terms as Lord Provost, Drummond was responsible for other developments in and around the Old Town, including points of interest close to our venue, which our speaker will also consider.
6.30pm at Augustine United Church, 41 George IV Bridge, Edinburgh EH1 1EL (wheelchair accessible)
Note: Lectures will also be streamed online via Zoom
