Housing Emergency: Community Response 6-8pm Tues 21 Jan Scottish Parliament
Tue, 21 Jan 2025
The Scottish Government has declared a Housing Emergency and all are aware of the crisis: shortage of available homes, high mortgage rates, exorbitant rents and rising heating costs.
So what to do about it?
Contribute to a panel discussion 5.30pm for 6pm – 8pm Tuesday 21 January 2025, Robert Burns Room (CR1), Scottish Parliament, Holyrood, Edinburgh + ONLINE.
Book: https://housing21jan.eventbrite.co.uk
Hosted by Ariane Burgess MSP and chaired by Prof Duncan McLennan with Craig White, Agile Homes, Prof Paul Chatterton, LILAC – Low Impact Living Affordable Community and Camilla Nielsen-Englyst, Cohousing Denmark.
This is your opportunity to contribute to the discussion from a community perspective, since many feel community is being designed out of housing.
Cohousing has community at its heart, as a middle way between social housing and for-profit housebuilding.
Community led and cooperative housing has multiple benefits for residents and the wider community.
Such communities are common in both Europe and North America – even in England – but not yet in Scotland. You can help change that.
