Policy and Development Committee

Policy & Development Committee

The Policy & Development Committee sits at the heart of the Cockburn Association’s work, helping to protect and shape Edinburgh’s unique character. Bringing together trustees, volunteers and specialists with a shared passion for the city, the Committee looks closely at planning proposals, development projects and policy consultations that affect Edinburgh’s built and natural environment.

Its role is both practical and forward-looking: responding to significant planning applications while also helping to develop thoughtful, long-term ideas for the city’s future. The Committee focuses on issues that matter most to Edinburgh’s communities—particularly those with wider impact—while offering support and guidance to local groups where needed.

Meeting regularly, the Committee provides advice and recommendations to the Cockburn Council and plays a key role in ensuring the Association remains a strong, informed and independent voice for the city.
