Doors Open Day Donation
Every September, something remarkable happens across Scotland. Doors open — and with them, possibilities open too. Not just the grand civic buildings or famous landmarks; studios, offices, churches, temples, gardens, and even wind turbines, open their doors and gates for free. For one glorious weekend, barriers quietly disappear and curiosity abounds.
Founded in France in 1984, to enable free civic access to buildings normally closed to the public, the concept has spread across Europe and the Americas, arriving in the UK in Glasgow in 1990 when the city celebrated its status as European City of Culture. Today, the Scottish Civic Trust coordinates Doors Open Days through a network of regional coordinators with the Cockburn responsible for Edinburgh and East Lothian’s festivities.
Your support will help us make this event as widespread and accessible as possible! Thank you!
