Marking the bicentenary of Sir Henry Littlejohn’s birth, this event from the University of Edinburgh Medical School explores the life and legacy of Edinburgh’s first Medical Officer of Health. Historian Paul Laxton, co-author of Insanitary City: Henry Littlejohn and the Condition of Edinburgh, will examine Littlejohn’s remarkable impact as a surgeon, public health pioneer, forensic expert, and civic reformer.

The event forms part of Edinburgh Medical School’s wider programme celebrating 300 years of medical education and looking towards a more equitable future.
