McEwan Hall

The recently restored McEwan Hall is the magnificent home of the University graduation ceremonies and flagship lectures. It was thanks to the generosity of William McEwan that this magnificent venue exists. He wanted to provide the University with a large and splendid graduation hall, that might also serve as a concert hall for major orchestral performances and so McEwan hall was born.

Its dramatic interior and grand organ has been a spectacular back drop for all manner of film and TV projects and now there are further opportunities with the brand new basement venues.

For Doors Open Days this year please enjoy a “virtual visit” below in this short film about the Hall, which includes footage of its incredible interior and the recent restoration work and many more details about its history.
