George IV in Edinburgh, Tuesday 25 October, 6.30 pm, in The Crannie, Cranston Street. To mark the bicentenary of the visit King George IV to Scotland in 1822, historian Eric Melvin will describe the background to the visit, the role Sir Walter Scott played in its organisation and how the visit led to tartan being identified not with armed rebellion but being synonymous with the romance of Scotland as a whole. Hybrid event, tickets £7, guests welcome.
