Don’t tear our statues down

Edinburgh is looking at its street names & monuments to ‘provide people with information about their city’ rather than tearing statues down.

Scientist and human rights campaigner Sir Geoffrey Palmer is chair of the Edinburgh Slavery and Colonialism Legacy Review Group. A celebrated scientist and academic he was Scotland’s first black university professor and was recently installed as the new Chancellor of Heriot Watt University.

His campaign seeks to interpret history rather than erasing it.

This talk is the 3rd in the Moray Talks series and follows on from Jennifer Melvilles – Facing our Past ( 11th May)

The event will take place in The Moray bicentenary marquee in the elegant Moray Place Gardens. The talk will be followed by questions and light refreshments included in the ticket.
