Dancing through the Scottish Enlightenment

Edinburgh Adult Education Programme (EAEP) about dance history in Edinburgh and the Lowlands.
The courses include information about the built heritage associated with dancing (theatres, dancing schools, ballrooms, significant events) as well as stories about dancers and dancing masters working in Scotland between the 1700s and 1850s.
11:00 – 13:00 30 Sep – 2 Dec (Saturdays, fortnightly) Dancing through the Scottish Enlightenment, Inch House Community Centre (225 Gilmerton Road, Edinburgh, EH16 5UF)
5 sessions x 2h each adding dance to the history of the Scottish Enlightenment through talks and dance practices covering what, when, who and how danced in Edinburgh and Lowlands in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Guided walks through Edinburgh streets and museums bringing to life stories about dances, dancers, dancing masters, dancing schools, ballrooms and dance stages of the Scottish capital in the 18th and 19th centuries

10:00 – 15:00 21 October (Saturday) Dancing in the Georgian Edinburgh: The New Town and Scottish National Galleries
